*SPRING*

Business After Hours

Date:  March 4, 2014
Time:  5:00-7:00 pm
Location:  Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut St.

The Hanover Park Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business after Hours event on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This event will be hosted by the CONECT Committee and held at the Hanover Park Park District located at 1919 Walnut Street, Hanover Park, IL.

Listen to New Orleans’ style music, disguise yourself from a vast selection of masques, enjoy wine tastings, jambalaya, muffaletta sandwiches and beignet pastries, in a fun, relaxing atmosphere.

All local business owners and home-based businesses are invited to attend this free event and give their business more exposure as they network and interact with the local business community. Bring your business cards to pass around and enter to win a door prize.

CIDC MLK Legacy: Day of Service

Date:  April 5, 2014

Location:  MWRD Ball Fields located at 1200 Sycamore Avenue (Barrington Road & Sycamore Avenue)

The Village of Hanover Park’s Cultural Inclusion and Diversity Committee, along with the Hanover Park Community Resource Coalition, will honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. by sponsoring a Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the MWRD Ballfields located at 1200 Sycamore Avenue (Barrington Road & Sycamore).  To learn more about this event, call 630-823-5660.  Those interested in volunteering may register online at DuPage Giving by clicking here and search for MLK Day of Service in Hanover Park.  Click here for the event flyer.

Arbor Day

Date: April 25, 2014

Each year, the Village holds a commemorative tree planting ceremony on Arbor Day the last Friday in April.  A tree planting ceremony is held at various locations.  For the past 25-years, the Village has earned Tree City USA recognition from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

Trees can lower heating and cooling costs, increase the value of your home, produce oxygen, and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  The Village has a full-time Forestry Division which provides a Brush Pickup Program, contractual and in-house tree trimming programs, wood chip deliveries, and tree care advice.

Maxwell Street 

Date: May 17, 2014

Location: Metra Station Parking Lot, Barrington Rd. and Lake St., Hanover Park, IL

The Village of Hanover Park holds its Spring Maxwell Street Vending event at the Hanover Park Train Station Commuter Lot. Hanover Park residents and neighbors will gather to sell their old treasures, handmade crafts, and new merchandise. We welcome all to swing by and bargain a good deal on quality items!  The event will be free of admission and will open to the public from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Vendors are encouraged to contact the Village Clerk’s office for information on registration and fees for any last minute available spots.  Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.  There will be no rain date scheduled for the event.  Fees are nonrefundable. Each space is 9 feet wide by 18 feet deep.

DuPage River Sweep 

Date: May 17, 2014

Location: DuPage River

Each year, The Conservation Foundation conducts its Du-Page County River Sweep. The River Sweep is a countywide clean-up which encourages citizens to improve local waterways by removing debris and litter from a section of stream or pond. The event has been held annually since 1991, and citizen volunteers have removed nearly 185 tons of garbage from DuPage County waterways. We are looking for individuals or groups to assist in keeping our waterways clean.  If you’re interested in participating in the next River Sweep, please contact the Public Works Department  at (630) 823-5700 for more information or to be placed on the volunteer list.

Memorial Day Ceremony

Location: Veterans Memorial Plaza, Village Hall, 2121 Lake St., Hanover Park, IL

The Veterans Committee hosts a Memorial Ceremony in honor of our Veterans each year and this year it is being held on Monday, May 27th, at 10:00 am in the Veterans Memorial Plaza in front of the Municipal Building, 2121 Lake Street, Hanover Park, IL .  Please join us at this ceremony to say "Thank You" to those who have served our country.

French Market

Date:  Every Friday starting June 13 through September 26

Location:  Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut Avenue

The Village of Hanover Park and the Park District have teamed up with the Bensidoun French Market Group to coordinate a French Market beginning Friday, June 13 through Friday, September 26 at the Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut Avenue, from 9 a.m. -2:00 p.m. The Bensidoun French Market Group coordinates many markets in the Chicagoland area (Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Geneva, Lisle, Vernon Hills, Old Orchard, Villa Park, Wilmette), and typically include fresh produce, baked goods, meats and cheeses, flowers, etc.  Click here to view our French Market flyer.

Boomers Baseball Hometown Night

Touch-A-Truck and Food Truck Festival

Each year, the Village of Hanover Park sponsors a Touch-a-Truck event.  The Police Department, Fire Department, and Public Works shine up their vehicles so attendees can touch the hoods, hear the engines and see the inside of the cars and trucks that make our community run!  This year, lunch will be on a roll, as several Chicagoland food trucks join the fun.  Trucks included are: Toasty Cheese Mobile Eatery, Grill Chasers, Pizza Via, Bridgeport Pastries, Gia Via Sweets, Salsa Truck, Babycakes, Gino's Steaks, and Mario's Cart.  Click here for the event flyer.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life

No matter who you are, there's a place for you at Relay. Each dollar you raise will help save lives. How far will you go to make a difference in the fight against cancer?

Your reasons for walking in the Relay For Life are as unique and special as the story that motivates you. This is your opportunity to not only honor cancer survivors and remember people we have lost, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives. Because of your support, we are creating a world where cancer can't claim another year of anyone's life. You are helping create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!

Community Apiary Open House

The Village of Hanover Park invites you to the Hanover Park Community Apiary Open House.  Come visit our beehives, learn about honey bees, and see how you can get started keeping honey bees in Hanover Park.  Beekeepers will be on hand to answer questions about this fun, fascinating, and increasingley important hobby.

COPS Day Picnic

9/11 Remembrance

Recycling Event

Fire Department Open House

Fee:  Free to Attendees ($25.00 fee for businesses interested in reserving exhibitor space.  (No Charge for CONECT or Chamber Members.)

This event, hosted by the CONECT Committee (Committee on Networking, Education and Community Teamwork), offers attendees the opportunity to network with other businesses, realtors, service agencies, public officials, and Village staff attending this event.  It is the perfect opportunity for you to market your business, enjoy refreshments, wine samplings and make new customers.

Tree Lighting Event

Each year, the Village hosts its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Entertainment and refreshments are provided, and a special guest arrives to "flip the switch" and light up the Village welcoming in the holiday season.  Watch for updates on the 2014 event.
