Exterior Property Maintenance Regulations

In order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens, the Village of Hanover Park establishes minimum standards for all property within the Village and a process called code enforcement to maintain these standards.  For more information call the Police Department Code Enforcement Unit at (630) 372-4400 or to register a complaint, contact the Code Enforcement Hotline at (630) 372-4262.

The Curb Appeal Program begins in April each year.  Village Community Service Officers (CSOs) visit neighborhoods in the Village, looking for property maintenance code compliance.  The exterior of each home as well as the yard is inspected.  If violations are found, a CSO will try to make contact with the property owner to explain the violations and help to find solutions.  If there is no response, a door hanger is left as a reminder.  Contact the CSO's telephone number on the door hanger for information.

Violations

The following numbers correspond to those on the violation notice.  The numbers in parentheses are code citations.  This is a summary of regulations.  All regulations or complete descriptions of violations are not included.  For complete definitions, descriptions, or exceptions to the regulations, you may review the actual Code at Village Hall in the Village Clerk's Office.
