New Fire Station Hosts
Grand Opening
The Village of Hanover Park will formally dedicate its new fire
station to the late Mayor Irwin A. Bock Saturday, July 22, 2006. The
station is located at 6850 Barrington Road. The 26,374 square foot
station, which has been under construction for the past year, replaces
the smaller, out-of-date station located at 1661 Maple Avenue built in
1969. Along with the addition of needed administrative offices, the new
station provides a triage room, conference room, training room, an
expanded apparatus floor to accommodate additional firefighting and EMS
equipment, a hose tower, and sleeping quarters for up to 12
firefighters.
The Village of Hanover Park retained the services of architects Sente,
Rubel, Bosman and Lee to design the building and the George Sollitt
Construction Company for the building's construction. An aggressive
construction schedule was adhered to, taking slightly more than a year
from ground breaking to dedication.
The public is invited to guided tours of the building on Saturday,
July 22, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm. Further information can be obtained
by contacting the Fire Department at (630) 736-6803.
