Assistance to Firefighters
and Aid to Firefighters Grants
In October, the Village of Hanover Park was awarded an
Assistance to Firefighters Grant for 2006 from the Department of
Homeland Security. The grant was used to update the Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) for all firefighters, ensuring compliance with current
National Fire Protection Association standards, which includes the new
Drag Rescue Device. Morning Pride® bunker pants and coats were purchased
along with Ben Franklin II® helmets, protective hoods, gloves and Pro
Warrington® leather boots. The grant was valued at $87,120 with a 10%
match by the Village.
In 2005
the Village of Hanover Park was awarded $107,800 in Aid to Firefighters
Grant money to purchase 32 CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological,
Nuclear) compliant Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. MSA ™ SCBA were
purchased which included masks equipped with Nightfighter™ Heads-up
Display System and integrated PASS Devices. A Port-a-Count was also
purchased enabling computerized fit testing.
