The Hanover Park Fire Department operates from two fire stations with shift personnel working a 24/48 schedule. On-duty personnel begin shift at 7:00 am each morning and are on-duty until relieved by the oncoming shift at 7:00 am the next day. Shift personnel then have 48 hours off before they are required to report for their next 24 hour shift.

Shift personnel are divided into three battalions with each shift being led by a Battalion Chief. Each shift also has a Lieutenant assigned to the engine company at both Station 1 and Station 2.

On-duty personnel staff two engine companies, two ambulance companies, and a command car or “buggy.”  The department’s Tower Ladder is staffed as a “jump company” with firefighter/paramedics from the Station 1 ambulance.

Overall operation of the Fire Department is under the command of the Fire Chief who reports to the Village Manager. The Assistant Fire Chief is second in the chain of command and serves as the department’s Fire Marshal.
