Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
CERT, or "Community Emergency Response Team,"
is an organization of volunteers trained to assist police and other
first responders in the event of a disaster, community crisis or other
major incident. The Department of Homeland Security and the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have been working with local
municipalities by providing training materials and funding assistance.
One aspect of CERT is educating the public on how to reduce the risks of
personal injury and property damage during times of crisis.
If you are interested in joining CERT, please contact Chief
David Webb at (630) 372-4418.

Fingerprinting
As a service provided to the residents of Hanover Park,
the Police Department will fingerprint any required State or Federal
forms that are needed by citizens of Hanover Park. In order to become
fingerprinted on required forms, bring the blank fingerprint card and
proper identification to the Police Department lobby.
A Community Service Officer will assist you and
fingerprint you in the front lobby of the Police Department. This
service is offered seven days a week from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. For
further information you can contact the Hanover Park Police Department
desk at (630) 372-4400.

Red
Light Cameras
Each year, too many families are destroyed by intersection crashes
caused by running red lights. Sadly, the victims are often occupants of
other vehicles and sometimes even pedestrians who happen to be in the
intersection.
Protecting
our community is the number one objective of the Village of Hanover
Park. We are pleased to announce the implementation of red light
cameras within the Village. This new state-of-the-art system is
designed to help us encourage safer driving habits.
Our first and foremost intention with this program is that it can
help us save lives.
Our police officers can’t enforce traffic laws everywhere, all the
time. But by utilizing these cameras it will help us keep our
intersections safer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The entire system is
funded by the violators.
We at the Village Of Hanover Park are encouraging you to respect the
rules of the road and keep everyone safe. Please support us and our new
red light camera system in making this program a success.
In just a split second, you can make the decision to stop at a red
light....and, potentially save a life.
Hanover Park’s new state-of-the-art red light traffic cameras will
help keep our kids – and our community – safer. Our red light program
aims to…..
- Increase traffic safety by improving driver behavior
- Decrease intersection crashes and injuries
- Enhance public safety 24 / 7
- Enable law enforcement to focus on other missions and
responsibilities.
- Ensure the entire red light camera program is violator funded.

Safe
Home Program
The Hanover Park Safe Home Program is an
intervention strategy, the goals of which are to identify gang
membership or potential gang membership at an early stage, educate
parents as to the warning signs of gang involvement, identify resources
for parents to use, increase communication between parents and the
Police Department. A referral will be made to the Social Worker with the
Hanover Park Police Department if officers locate indicators of gang
involvement. The Police Social Worker will provide information
regarding gang intervention strategies and additional resources for
parents. The Social Worker will follow-up with both the juvenile and the
parent in individual counseling sessions.

Social Services Resources
The Village of Hanover Park employs a full-time social
worker to provide services to Hanover Park residents who have been
referred through the Police Department or Village. These services
include crisis intervention, clinical assessments, short-term
counseling, advocacy, and referrals.
When faced with a crisis, people often recognize that
professional help is needed, but may not know where to obtain
appropriate services. The Social Services Unit offers individuals and
families the opportunity to work through difficulties. All services are
free and confidential.
