The Village of Hanover Park’s engineering staff are currently preparing for the construction of several Village streets in 2018. This year’s road program includes over $1 Million in reconstruction and resurfacing, as well as nearly $400,000 in curb and sidewalk replacement, pavement striping, crack filling and streetlight maintenance. In addition, thanks to a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) received from DuPage County, the Village will also be reconstructing Greenbrook Court.
This year’s road program includes the second phase of the Cinema Drive reconstruction project. This year’s work is tentatively scheduled to include Cinema Drive from Redford Lane to Ladd Court. The scope of the project will be very similar to the Phase I project, which was completed in 2017.
Several streets will also be resurfaced in 2018. This work includes spot curb repair, base patching, and asphalt resurfacing. Approximately 1.2 miles of street will be resurfaced. The tentative list of streets to be resurfaced in 2018 is as follows (subject to final design and budgetary constraints):
- Laurel Ave. from East Ave. to Village Limits
- Walnut Ave. from Barrington Rd. to Highland St.
- Highland St. from Walnut Ave. to dead end
- Oakwood Ave. from Highland St. to Deerpath Ln.
- Sunset Dr. from County Farm Rd. to Ridge Crossing
The reconstruction of Cinema Drive and the resurfacing projects will be funded by Motor Fuel Tax dollars.
The Greenbrook Court project includes the complete reconstruction of the roadway, and the replacement of the water main from Greenbrook Blvd. to the end of the Greenbrook Court cul-de-sac. This construction cost for this project is estimated at roughly $340,000, but due to the CDBG grant received the Village’s portion of that cost will only be approximately $100,000.
This work is planned to continue through the late spring and summer, and is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2018. As each project progresses, affected residents and businesses will be notified of more specific construction schedules and other important information.
