Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind during this beautiful season.
- Use caution with leaves on the ground. Leaves can cause a slippery surface on the pavement. A person can slip and fall.
- Keep street drains clear of leaves and debris. This will help prevent flooding during heavy rain.
- Jumping into a pile of leaves sounds fun but be careful of branches and twigs that can cause cuts and scrapes.
- If you are outside after the sun sets, make sure you are wearing light colored clothing or have reflectors. This will make it easier to see yo
u in the dark. - Be aware of the weather. October and November can be very unpredictable. Make sure you are prepared for rain or snow.
- Be aware of the Open Burning Ordinance - "it is unlawful to burn anywhere in the Village any garbage, refuse, landscape waste or lumber that is not clean, and all fires in an outdoor fireplace are prohibited during the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m." For more information visit: Hanover Park Municipal Codes, Section 66-19.
