Hanover Park has many committees and commissions where you can volunteer your time and give back to the community! There are several committees with open positions available including:
Cultural Inclusion and Diversity Committee - This committee fosters and promotes understanding, mutual respect, cooperation, and positive relations between and among all residents of the Village by creating a sense of shared community among residents and affirming the value of each resident. Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 6:15 p.m.
Development Commission - This commission provides a comprehensive plan for controlled growth and development of the Village and also conducts hearings on variances, special uses, and Planned Unit Developments for zoning and building. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
Environmental Committee - This committee consists of members of the community who are focused on promoting information and programs concerning environmental issues that affect the Village, its residents, and businesses. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
Sister Cities Committee - This committee fosters knowledge and understanding between the people of the Village of Hanover Park and the people of other nations’ cities. The Village of Hanover Park’s Sister City is Cape Coast Ghana, West Africa and Valparaiso, Zacatecas Mexico. Committee meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
Committee members are appointed by the President and Board of Trustees. The President submits names of people who wish to serve on a committee or commission and, upon approval of the Board, appoints them to serve appropriate terms.
