For the 34th consecutive year the Village of Hanover Park has received recognition as a Tree City USA through the Arbor Day Foundation. The program is also sponsored by the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. To commemorate the recognition Village Clerk Eira Corral Sepúlveda will hold an Arbor Day Ceremonyat the Hanover Park Sports Complex Pavilion on April 26, 2019 at 10:00 am. The Tree Planting Ceremony will serve as an opportunity to honor three community leaders that have served in Hanover Park: Bob Wachsmuth, Russ Hart and Terri Vlach.
Retiring Environmental Committee Members Bob Wachsmuth and Russ Hart will be honored with a tree planting recognizing their leadership in the Committee’s many accomplishments throughout the years. With their guidance the committee established the Community Apiary, the Annual Recycling Event and the Annual River Sweep.
A second tree will also be planted in memory of Community Leader Terri Vlach to recognize her leadership and volunteerism in Hanover Park. Terri was a member of the Development Commission and a supporter of the Veteran’s Committee as well as youth sports in the Village. Her light, laughter and love are missed by all community members.
