International E-Commerce and Social Media Marketing Boot Camp (5-Part Series)


 

Join the Illinois SBDC International Trade Center for a 5-part series webinar Boot Camp about International E-Commerce and Social Media Marketing. 

This program will have 5 one-hour webinars, every Friday between October 2nd and October 30th, that will help companies to recover revenue after COVID disruption by expanding their sales internationally using E-Commerce platforms. The program will help companies identify new markets and additional revenue streams to rebuild their business without heavy cost. 

 

One-Hour Webinars:

Each week, registrants will be emailed the Zoom webinar link for that week's webinar.

1 – (Friday, October 2nd) Introduction to International E-Commerce; what platforms are popular in what regions, how can you set up and manage an E-Commerce site for another country, how does language / their retail environment impact what I sell, etc. 

2 - (Friday, October 9th) Export Basics; what every company needs to consider before they export – what is required from the US, what does their importing country require for inbound goods, what taxes / regulations may affect the sale / shipment of the product, etc. 

3 – (Friday, October 16th) What Products and How to Market (Social Media); we will look at how to decide what products to sell based on their customer base, market entry, shipping costs, etc. How to establish your brand and your products with customers. Social media is the dominant form of marketing for E-Commerce – how to use it internationally. Its also used for customer sales followup and product support. 

4 – (Friday, October 23rd) The Details Build Success: what do you need to know about product compliance, labeling, shipping, regulatory registration, etc. How will you ship the customer, who will import the goods, how will you get paid? 

5 – (Friday, October 30th) Wrap up Case Studies: Go through examples on how to set up an E-Commerce site in two countries, then look at examples of companies selling E-Commerce, what are best practices.

Speaker: 

Kimberly Kirkendall, CPA, President, International Resource Development, Inc. Bio: 

Kimberly Kirkendall, CPA has been a bridge between the U.S. and China for over 30 years. She began her career in China, moving there in 1986 after graduating from Ohio State University. She lived in China for five years, where she ran two factories and managed the regional office of a U.S. parent company. During that time she developed a deep understanding and love for the country and its people. Professionally she spent the first ten years of her career in operations, manufacturing and supply chain. The second ten years began with her becoming a CPA and starting her own business as a consultant, both as interim executive for some companies (CFO, VP Operations, General Manager) and as an advisor for others. 

Her company, International Resource Development, Inc. improves operations and communication for clients with business in both the U.S. and China. Recent Projects include: Establishing Accounting & HR Systems for a new Chemical Factory, Negotiating and Structuring a Joint Venture, Target Search and Negotiation for an Merger/Acquisition in China, Identifying and Establishing a Distributor Network, Market Analysis & Product / Channel Plan, etc. Some of the company’s clients Include; Lubrizol, Invacare, Swagelok, Curtiss Wright, Worthington Industries, GOJO, Oatey, KT Tape, Bracalente, ChangAn Motors, MES Inc, Vitamix, etc.
