The Village was proud to accept an award from The Conservation Foundation last night on its leadership in salt management. Road salt is an outstanding product for removing ice from roadways but it is not a good product in the environment. The Village of Hanover Park has taken in leadership role in reducing salt in the environment while still maintaining safe roadways. In the past 15 years the Village has reduced the amount of road salt used in snow fighting operations by nearly 50% without any diminishment in the quality of the roadways during and after a snow storm.
Mayor Rodney Craig and Street Supervisor Scott Weber accepted the award on behalf of the Village for this important environmental activity.
