Suggestions Moving Forward
A few suggestions to help you navigate this trying period:

  • Please take care to protect the health of you and those around you
  • Be wary of scammers seeking personal information as they offer “help.”
  • Talk with your landlord.  Let them know any challenges you may be facing.  If necessary, discuss rent term modifications and ask them to work with you to get through this together.
  • Expand your social media presence so you can be found on-line through a Google Profile.   Update information regularly on your profile including hours and specials of the day.
  • If you don’t already have a web page, consider a web “landing page” for on-line ordering.
  • Seek assistance from our Small Business Development Centers.
  • Consider offering special hours for business restricted for seniors-only shopping.
  • Prepare your supply chain for coronavirus – this article contains actionable advise: Harvard Business Review.

State Participation in the Federal Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program – Please help.
The State Department of Commerce is collecting information from our small business owners and not-for-profit managers on COVID-19’s economic impact to aid the Governor in submitting to the SBA for an economic injury disaster declaration.  The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program provides small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2 million to overcome the temporary loss of revenue.

To assist IDCEO and the SBA, small businesses and not-for-profits impacted by the Pandemic are encouraged to complete the COVID-19 Impact form.  Filling out the form does NOT constitute application or request for an SBA loan.  Your participation will provide an assessment of need for businesses.

After an SBA declaration is made for designated areas within Illinois, information on the application process for Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance will be made available to all affected communities, businesses and not-for-profits.
