Virtual Memorial Day Observance 


The Hanover Park Veterans Committee will be holding a Memorial Day Observance through Facebook Live on Monday, May 25th at 10:00 a.m. This event is being held in honor of our Veterans and to remember those who have lost their lives while serving our country.


As part of the ceremony, two new remembrance bricks will be added to the Veterans Memorial Plaza. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, this event will not be open to the public. We encourage you to watch the event online through the Village’s Facebook page which can be found at www.facebook.com/VillageofHanoverPark.  

The Finance Department, temporarily located at the police department, will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

In Need of Some Assistance? Area Resources Are Available To You!


DuPage Community Services Department from DuPage County has the Community Resource Information System, which can be found at https://dupagecris.org.  You can also call them at 630-407-6500 or e-mail csprograms@dupageco.org.  They offer assistance with housing and utilities, food, mental health, and income and employee support among a variety of other services.

CEDA provides comprehensive housing counseling services providing information, education and advice to homebuyers, homeowners, renters, and the homeless.  Homeless counseling services may include working collaboratively with other partners to rapidly transition homeless male veterans and homeless individuals into the joint transitional/rapid re-housing program.  CEDA also offers a variety of other assistance to include energy assistance, home weatherization, family support and community engagement and a women, infants and children program, among others. 
 
Township Emergency Assistance Programs:
 
Bloomingdale Township

Emergency Assistance is a needs based program for township residents. Eligibility is income qualified based on family size. Those who qualify may receive assistance with rent/mortgage, utilities, gas vouchers and food. Individuals can receive Emergency Assistance once in a twelve (12) month period. In addition the Township General Assistance Department negotiates with major utility companies as well as local municipalities regarding client cut-off notices as well as working with landlords and the Sheriff's Office to help prevent evictions. Likewise referrals are made to several agencies including the Illinois Department of Human Services (formerly known as Public Aid), Unemployment offices, Social Security, DuPage Housing Authority, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Family Shelter, WIC (Woman Infants and Children) Program, Mental Health Facilities, Access DuPage and many more. Hanover Township

General Assistance in Hanover Township is a locally administered welfare program which provides monthly financial assistance to persons who are not eligible for any other state or federal assistance programs, and who do not have adequate income or resources to provide for their own basic needs. Any township resident, 18 yrs. or older, who is either a U.S. resident or legal alien admitted under color-of-law, is eligible. The General Assistance Program is primarily for those adults without minor children, without adequate income, and ineligible for any other monetary form of assistance.  Please call (630) 540-9085 for an appointment.
 
Schaumburg Township

Emergency Assistance provides financial aid to help alleviate an "emergency" or "life threatening" circumstance (i.e., eviction, utility disconnection).  Assistance is available for qualifying residents of Schaumburg Township.  Emergency Assistance can be issued once in any twenty-four (24) month period. 
 
Wayne Township

Wayne Township offers general assistance - financial assistance for individuals who are pending disability or are between jobs; emergency assistance - help with rent, utilities, prescriptions and other needs; Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - seniors and households with disabled persons are encouraged to apply as soon as the program starts each September; and Salvation Army Assistance - limited funds are available to assist those living in West Chicago.  Please call General Assistance at 630-231-7173 for information or to set up an appointment.
