Hanover Park's Community Visioning Workshop

Tuesday, May 13th @ 6:00pm

at Village Hall, Room 214

We want to hear from you!

The Village is hosting a Community Visioning Workshop to hear from YOU about your vision for Hanover Park and provide input as we draft the ‘Comprehensive Plan’ for the next 15-20 years! This is your opportunity to tell us what you think, before plans and recommendations are crafted. Come prepared to:

  • Work together to identify planning priorities, issues, and opportunities.
  • Work in small groups on a mapping exercise, putting pen to paper to develop your vision for the future of the community.
  • Build consensus on the long-term character of Hanover Park.
  • Identify projects and improvements that will be desirable in the future.

The Community Visioning Workshop is a key component in developing Hanover Park’s Comprehensive Plan and everyone is invited and encourage to attend – including youth and seniors!

Outdoor dining

Outdoor Dining Season

is Almost Here

Temporary Outdoor Dining is Permitted between May 1 - October 31

The warm weather will be here soon...if your restaurant does not already have a designated outdoor seating area, you may be able to offer outdoor dining from May 1 thru October 31 by applying for a Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit.

Offering outdoor seating during warm weather months can be a valuable move. Here are some benefits of offering outdoor dining:

  • More seating for customers which can create more revenue
  • Customers enjoying the weather are more likely to stay for a longer period
  • Provides a relaxed atmosphere and allows guests to enjoy the outdoors
  • Creates positive associations and experiences

If your restaurant would like to expand its food service to the outdoors during May 1 thru October 31, a permit is required. The Village's Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit Requirements Guide can be found here.

Information on outdoor dining, temporary tents, and resources for restaurants can be found on the Village's website here.

Food truck

Interested in Operating a Food Truck?

The Village allows food trucks as a Temporary Use

Food trucks are a great way to bring people together during community events, festivals, parties, and other social gatherings, and they are also a fantastic way to expand your restaurant.

Food trucks are allowed in the Village of Hanover Park with the following criteria:

  • A Temporary Use Permit shall be required, with the consent of the property owner, and shall be renewed annually. At the time of permit submittal, a list shall be provided of days and times when food trucks will be located on the property, along with a site plan depicting the location of the food truck(s) and any associated equipment or supplies. Said information shall be provided annually as part of the permit renewal process and when there are revisions to scheduling or locations throughout the year. Only food trucks licensed by the Village shall be permitted.
  • Food trucks shall be located in designated parking spaces as illustrated on the submitted site plan and shall not be allowed in fire lanes, drive aisles, or handicapped parking spaces, nor shall they impede traffic flow or emergency access or have an adverse effect on other activities on the property. Appropriate refuse and recycling containers shall be provided for proper disposal of waste.
  • Food trucks shall not be permitted adjacent to existing restaurants unless as part of a Special Event.
  • Food trucks shall only be allowed in nonresidential districts or on publicly-owned properties, unless affiliated with an approved temporary special event, when a separate Food Truck Permit will not be required

For further information about food trucks, please contact Inspectional Services at 630-823-5860.  The Village's Ordinance regarding food trucks can be found here.
