Fireworks

Services Impacted by the Independence Day Holiday

Village Hall will be closed on Friday, July 4th, in observance of the holiday. Garbage & recycling pickup will be delayed one day, to Saturday, July 5th.

Be Safe this Fourth of July!

Fireworks are a spectacular way to celebrate events, but they come with significant risks when handled by amateurs. Injuries such as burns, lacerations, and even loss of limbs or eyesight are common when fireworks are not used correctly. In addition to personal injury, there is a high risk of fire, which can cause property damage and threaten lives. The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to leave it to the professionals. Professional displays are conducted by trained experts who follow strict safety protocols and use high-quality fireworks designed for large, open spaces, reducing the risk of accidents.

Sparklers, often seen as a safer alternative to fireworks, can also pose significant risks if not handled properly. Despite their seemingly harmless appearance, sparklers burn at temperatures around 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit—hot enough to melt some metals. To ensure safety, only use sparklers in an open, outdoor area away from flammable materials. Always supervise children and never allow them to run with or throw sparklers. Ensure everyone holds sparklers at arm’s length and wears closed-toe shoes to protect against falling sparks.

Please also keep in mind that loud noises and bright flashes can cause severe stress and anxiety in animals, which causes them to tremble, hide or even run away.  Be sure your pets are kept inside in a safe, quiet location to minimize their stress!

Ride the Wave to Hanover Park

Ride the Wave to Hanover Park!

On June 24th, the Village held our Ride the Wave to Hanover Park event, where we unveiled our ukiyo-e inspired mural of Village Hall! This mural was created by local Naperville artist, Rich Lo. Murals were created for Hanover Park and other municipalities located in DuPage County as part of the promotion of the College of DuPage's Cleve Carney Museum of Art's "Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: the Floating World" exhibit. The Village is a community partner to promote this awesome exhibit! For more information about the exhibit, visit the Museum's website.

The Village would like to thank all who attended our event. Stop by Village Hall this summer to check out our mural, as well as depictions of Hokusai's art on the building's windows. You can also check out our event recap video on YouTube!

Don't forget the Hanover Park Park District is also hosting an origami event on July 11th from 6:00PM to 7:00PM at the Community Center. Visit their website for more information.

20225 COPS Day

Save the Date for the 27th Annual COPS Day!

Join the Hanover Park Police Department on July 18th for our annual COPS Day Picnic. The picnic begins at 5:00PM and will be held at the Hanover Park Park District, 1919 Walnut Avenue.

Picnic attractions include an emergency vehicle car show and touch-a-truck, a police canine demonstration, games, face painting, music, and a Resource Fair with numerous social services agencies in attendance.

Hanover Park Police Administration will be cooking and serving hot dogs, chips, and lemonade, which are free to all attendees. This year, attendees will also have the option to purchase food from two food trucks and The Milkhouse Ice Cream Truck in addition to Kernel Dan's Popcorn and Kona Ice. There will be a raffle to raise money for the Shop with a Cop program benefiting children who need a little help in boosting their holiday joy.

Don't forget to stay after the picnic for the Movie in the Park. This year's movie is Dog Man!

2024 Consumer Confidence Water Quality Report

The Village is dedicated to providing our residents with safe drinking water. As part of this effort, we have prepared the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). This report is a requirement of the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act amendments.

It summarizes where your water came from, what it was made of, and how it compared to the standards established by regulatory agencies. To view the report, visit our website or you can call our Public Works Department at 630-823-5700 for a paper copy.

2025 Construction Projects

Construction Updates

No work will take place on July 4th or over the weekend. If you have any project questions, contact Engineering at 630-823-5700 or visit www.hpil.org/1234/current-projects.

Schick Road Resurfacing Update: The punch list  is expected to be completed in the upcoming weeks.

2025 Resurfacing Project Update: This week, the contractor continued the various sidewalk, curb, and gutter repairs throughout the Village and is expected to complete this work in the next week.

County Farm Road Sidewalk (DuPage County DOT): DuPage County has completed the installation of the sidewalk on the west side of County Farm Road, from Lawrence Avenue to Stairway Drive, and is currently working on restoration.

Arlington Drive Bridge Replacement Update: Installation of the bypass channel and cofferdam took longer than anticipated, so crews were unable to install the sheeting for the cofferdam this week. This work is now scheduled to take place next week. Once the sheeting for the cofferdam is installed, the remainder of the bridge will be removed. The installation of the sheeting is a loud operation that some residents near the bridge may be able to hear. Crews have been reminded of the Village’s quiet hours.
