Fall Brush Pick-Up Map

Fall Brush Collection - October 20th

The Village’s free curbside residential brush pick-up continues for residents north of Lake Street and should be completed next week. For residents south of Lake Street, brush pickup will begin on Monday, October 20th.

Brush must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on October 20th to avoid missing your cycle. Residents are required to follow the brush preparation guidelines listed below and are directed to call the Public Works Department at (630) 823-5700 with any questions. Following the guidelines closely will ensure that your material will be collected as part of the program.

The Village will collect branches with a minimum of two (2) feet in length and a maximum of ten (10) feet in length.  The branches must be less than eight (8) inches in diameter.

What will not be picked up:

  • Small hedge or pine clippings
  • Yard waste or brush in containers
  • Brush or branches with thorns
  • Stumps or tree roots
  • Unorganized or tangled brush piles

How to stack brush:

  • Do not bundle!
  • Neatly stack the brush in one direction with the butt/cut end toward the street.
  • Do not block access to the brush pile with your vehicle.
  • No lumber, wire, rope, construction material or other material can be included with the brush
  • Do not block the sidewalk when putting brush out

PLEASE REMEMBER: If you miss your scheduled brush pick-up date you can utilize the yard waste collection provided by Groot Services once a week through November 29, 2025.  Yard waste stickers are required.  The yard waste must be placed in a special yard waste bag or branches must be tied in bundles up to 48 inches long and up to 18 inches in diameter. Please call Groot Services at (847) 260-7724 with any questions.

Drug Take Back -October 25

National Drug Take Back Day - Oct. 25

Saturday, October 25, 2025 is the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day. The Kenneth Young Center will be at the Hanover Park Police Department from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to collect unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications. They will also share information about substance use disorder, prevention, and treatment options.

Flushing medicines down the toilet or pouring them down the sink can create the potential for harmful chemicals to end up in our waterways. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, which can lead to medication misuse or the beginning of opioid addiction. Opioid overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. That is why Drug Take Back Day is a great opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinet and turn in, safely and anonymously, all your expired and unneeded medications.

If you are unable to make it to the Police Department on October 25th, don't worry. We have a drug take-back box in our lobby that is available from 8:00am to midnight every day for your convenience.

If you or someone you know needs help, the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances at 1-833-234-3435 is available 24/7, 365 days a year and is completely free. Anyone can use the Helpline, whether you are struggling with a substance use disorder or care about someone who is. Trained Helpline specialists answer questions, provide support, and connect you to services in Illinois.

2025 Construction Projects

Construction Updates

If you have any project questions, contact Engineering at 630-823-5700 or visit www.hpil.org/1234/current-projects.

2025 Watermain Replacement Update: This week, the contractor completed transferring water services from the old water main to the new one. The old water main has been disconnected. Concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter removal and replacement will begin next week. Residents will receive notification if their driveway access will be impacted.

Fiber Installation (AT&T): AT&T has several fiber installation projects throughout the Village. Any questions or concerns about these projects should be directed to AT&T’s Construction Hotline at 800-843-6581. If you leave your name, address, and phone number, they will follow up within 48 hours.

Arlington Drive Bridge Replacement Update: Last week, the top section of the culverts was poured, so this week, the concrete needed time to cure. After the appropriate cure time and the concrete samples had passed the strength tests, the contractor began removing the forms. Next week, the contractor will continue removing the forms and begin backfilling along the north side of the box culvert. Next steps will include installation of the waterproof membrane and drains along the top of the box culvert. The project remains on schedule for a late November opening, weather dependent.
