Village of Hanover Park to Host Posada: A Community Holiday Event and Tree Lighting Ceremony 

The Village of Hanover Park will host its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 6:00 PM.  The event will take place at the Village Municipal Complex located at 2121 W. Lake Street, Hanover Park.

The ceremony will start with Carols lead by the St. Ansgar Children’s Choir at 6:00PM and then with a "flip of the switch" by Village President Rod Craig and Village Clerk Eira Corral Sepúlveda, and special guest, Santa, the snowflake lights along Lake Street, as well as, pine trees decorated by local schools and community organizations will light up all at once.

Thereafter, everyone is welcome to go indoors to enjoy the Posada community holiday event.  Where the Foubourg School of Ballet will kick off the entertainment with a dance presentation.  Cielito Lindo family folk song group will follow with an interactive musical performance, which is graciously sponsored by the Schaumburg Township District Library. Local Mariachi Morelos will be joined by the U-46 Mariachi Joya Dorada and the Bailable Folkorico Quetzal. Refreshments will be provided by the Hanover Park Lions Club.

“This year’s Posada theme reflects a colorful tradition in celebrating a sense of community during the holiday season and Hanover Park as America’s Global Village,” said the Village Clerk, Eira Corral Sepúlveda.

Mailbox Hit By A Village Snow Plow?

The Village of Hanover Park will replace mailboxes that have been damaged through direct contact with a snow plow, only if the original mailbox was installed in compliance with Village regulations. If your mailbox is hit, a temporary repair will be made so that you can continue to receive mail. 

When winter ends and the ground thaws, final repairs will be made. If replacement of the mailbox or post is required, a standard metal size mailbox and 4x4 wood post will be installed. 

Contact the Public Works Department at 630.823.5700 immediately to report mailbox damage.

Township of Schaumburg to Host Property Tax Appeal Seminar-December 20

The Township of Schaumburg will host an appeals seminar on December 20, 2018 at 6 pm. The free event will be held at One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL.

The appeal procedure and tips for filing a successful appeal will be explained. Township and Cook County Board of Review office staff will be available to answer questions and assist residents in filing appeals onsite after the presentation. The appeals period closes December 27, 2018.
