Hanover Park Complete Count Committee Meeting Kicks Off the Start of 2020 Census Awareness

The Village of Hanover Park is dedicated to a Complete Count for the 2020 Census! The first meeting for the Hanover Park Complete Count Committee was held on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Hanover Park Village Hall Board Room. To help ensure a complete count, Mayor Rodney S. Craig has formed the Hanover Park Complete Count Committee which is a volunteer committee comprised of a broad spectrum of government and community leaders from education, business, faith-based and other community organizations. The Complete Count Committee is charged with developing and implementing  a plan designed to target the unique characteristics of their community to increase  awareness about the census and motivate residents in the community to respond to the census.

Mayor Craig kicked off the meeting and thanked members committee for their help. "We can't do this alone. I applaud everyone on the committee for their help and dedication to Hanover Park. Too many state and federal dollars are at stake if Hanover Park is not counted properly."

Village Clerk Eira Corral Sepulveda outlined Hanover Park’s strategy to get the word out that the 2020 Census is Safe, Simple and Significant. As part of their efforts, members of the committee will help roll out Hanover Park’s 2020 Census “Be Counted” awareness campaign. The campaign, whose logo is available in 7 languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tagalog, & Polish, advocates for all members of the community to respond to the 2020 Census and “Be Counted.” During the meeting, committee members collaborated in groups to brain storm on ideas to get the message out to their constituents and committed to conducting census related activities within their organizations.

Village Clerk Corral Sepúlveda, said “It is important for our partners to be trusted voices and create awareness of the 2020 Census so that residents see it in many different familiar spaces.”

The Complete Count Committees will meet again in January to review strategies on educating the public about the Census and in March to plan activation strategies.
