Development Applications
If you are looking to remodel, repair, replace, or add new structures or additions, a permit may be required. The Community and Economic Development Department administers development applications for (1) Special Uses; (2) Variations and Design Exceptions; (3) Planned Unit Developments (PUDs), Master Planned Developments (MPDs), Rezonings (Map Amendments), and Comprehensive Plan Amendments; (4) Text Amendments; and (5) Plats of Subdivision.
PROCESS OVERVIEW
The Development Process generally takes 3-4 months to complete:
- Staff Review: Monthly review sessions are held by the in-house Staff Development Review Committee (DRC).
- Development Commission Public Hearing: A public hearing is scheduled before the Development Commission, typically held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. For more information about the Development Commission, including the Meeting Schedule and Development Application Timeline, please visit the Development Commission page.
- Village Board Action: A final action by the President and Village Board of Trustees occurs at a separate Village Board meeting, held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. Village Board agendas are available here .
